The Wuju opera Three Battles with the White Bone Demon, staged by the Zhejiang Wuju Art Research Institute, offers a creative interpretation of Zhu Bajie, one of the best-known characters from the Chinese classic Journey to the West. Inspired by the Jinhua Two-Head Black Pig, a distinctive native pig breed famous for Jinhua ham in Zhejiang Province, the opera redesigns a new, adorably silly image for Zhu Bajie.
